100 Eye Street, Southeast
Washington, DC
Program
12-story, 281,205 square feet, 247 unit apartment building with 3 levels of below grade parking.
Description
The project was designed in tandem with the adjacent apartment building, 70 Eye Street SE. Both building were designed to resemble the historic warehouses of the old Navy Yard area.
The project, named Axiom at Capital Yards, was one of several projects in the rapidly developing Capital Yards neighborhood that included the National's ballpark. The new structure is post-tensioned concrete with facades of glass and brick. Project amenities include a fitness center, party room, theater, business center and leasing center. Sustainable design features of the project include high-efficient glass, interior solar shades, green roofs, and wastewater management strategies. The project was design to achieve LEED silver certification.
My Role
As Project Manager for WDG Architecture, I coordinated all aspects of the architectural process while serving as the primary liaison between the design team, client, and construction partners. Beyond standard project management duties, I specialized in navigating Washington DC's complex zoning requirements, took ownership of critical life safety elements, and led the design development of residential units to ensure both compliance and optimal living environments throughout all phases of the project.
