Oregon Military Department - Joint Force Headquarters
Salem, OR
Leading the SERA Architecture design team in an innovative partnership with Fortis Construction, I managed this $18 million, 55,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility for the new Oregon Military Department Headquarters in Salem. It provides flexible, adaptable workspace for Department leadership and Oregon Army and Air National Guard staff.
Designed as an essential facility that stays operational after seismic events, the two-story building has an open floor plan optimizing natural light, views and emergency adaptability. The open, adaptable spaces accommodate increased occupancy during training and emergencies. Sustainable features like a large solar array and stormwater collection helped achieve LEED Gold.
The transparent two-story lobby connects the wings, offering gathering space for ceremonies. Its openness reflects the design focus on connectivity, transparency and resilience.
I was proud to manage the architectural design for this important new headquarters facility serving the Oregon Military Department's dedicated personnel. The collaborative process resulted in an innovative, sustainable and inspiring workspace supporting their mission.
