About Bill Poulos

An architect with over 30 years of experience, I have had the privilege of contributing to the revitalization of major cities on both coasts. My career began in Washington D.C. in 1990, a pivotal time as the city emerged from a period of decline. Although large areas still bore scars from the 1968 riots, and many neighborhoods suffered from suburban flight, D.C. was on the cusp of renewal. During my 25 years there, I worked on transformative projects like the IRS Headquarters, Coast Guard Headquarters, and mixed-use residential high-rises that breathed new life into D.C.'s core. A highlight was adapting the iconic Old Post Office into a luxurious hotel that is now the Waldorf Astoria.

Since relocating to Portland, I have focused primarily on public sector clients such as the Oregon Military Department, Oregon Department of Administrative Services, and various county governments. My passion is collaborating with design teams to deliver thoughtful solutions that generate lasting value for communities. I find great satisfaction in dispelling uncertainty and stress around design, providing insights and inspiration instead.

I aim to leverage my three decades of experience revitalizing urban areas across the U.S. to continue creating iconic, meaningful projects that improve people's lives.
