Westin Hotel
Arlington, Virginia
As Project Architect and Manager for WDG Architecture, I led the implementation of The Westin Arlington Gateway, a $75 million upscale hotel that has become a cornerstone of Arlington's dynamic Ballston-Rosslyn corridor. Located at the prominent intersection of Wilson Boulevard and Glebe Road, this 336-room hotel project was part of a sophisticated three-building development that included an adjacent Class 'A' office tower and luxury condominium building, all sharing below-grade parking facilities.
I designed the hotel's floor plans and spatial organization to achieve an optimal balance between Westin's exacting operational requirements and local zoning regulations, while working in close coordination with the design architect on the building envelope and the landscape architect on the plaza design. This integrated approach resulted in highly efficient plans that not only met strict hospitality standards but also created compelling guest experiences throughout the property. The project involved shepherding the design through Arlington County's rigorous review and approval process, from design development through construction documentation. The completed hotel, with its sleek architectural expression and sophisticated interior organization, exemplifies the refined character that defines this growing commercial corridor.
