11-story mixed-use including 93 rental units totaling 120,300-sf, 71 luxury condos totaling 126,600-sf, 7,600-gsf of retail, and a 20,100-sf West End Library. Scope of work includes 96,400-sf parking garage with 249 spaces.
Description
The client was selected by the DC Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development to develop two city owned parcels, Squares 37 and 50. Bill Poulos served as the Project Manager for the WDG Architecture team which served as the Executive Architect with Design Architect, Ten Arquitectos.
The project, named Westlight, on Square 37 replaced and existing library and and existing police station building. The new structure is post-tensioned concrete with sloping columns providing for a stepped facade and numerous corner windows for the residential units. Project amenities include a rooftop pool uniquely placed atop the penthouse structure and a community room with exterior terraces. Sustainable design features of the project include high-efficient glass, interior solar shades, green roofs, and wastewater management strategies. The project was design to achieve LEED Gold certification.

While performing his primary role as Project Manager bill kept his hand in the design of the residential units.
